The Imperial Sovereign Court of the Willamette Empire was originally established in September 1977. The Imperial Sovereign Court of the Willamette Empire is a Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender non-profit organization with a mission to help serve the needs of charity organizations such as Muscular Dystrophy, Meals on Wheels, YWCA Breast Cancer and the Salem area Rainbow Youth..Each year the community elects the Emperor and Empress who are gay men and women that represent their communities in and out of Salem.  About 150 people, including Mr., Ms. and Miss Gay Oregon as well as title holders from Las Vegas, Reno, Tacoma, Seattle, and all over California attended the Imperial Sovereign Court of the Willamette Empire Coronation 2008 in Salem at the Oregon State Fairgrounds. These people not only came to greet the newly crowned Emperor and Empress but to support the two who were "stepping down" and to celebrate their year of service to the Salem community. Membership is open to anyone twenty-one years of age or older, who lives in the area of Marion, Polk, Linn, Lincoln, Yamhill and Benton counties.  ANDREA J. WRIGHT | Statesman Journal
